Nails Design at Home

Get Into The Groove This Fall With Dazzling Disco-Inspired Nails!

How to Achieve Disco-Inspired Nails at Home

Prioritize nail preparation for long-lasting nail art. Start by removing any existing nail polish, tidying up your cuticles, and gently buffing your nails. For optimal results, consider using Gel-X from Aprés Nail for effortless and stunning nail extensions, especially if you lack natural nail length. I utilized the Aprés Nail Neutrals Gel-X Whitney Natural Square Medium Box Of Tips along with the Aprés Extend Gel Gold Bottle Edition. These tinted tips eliminate the need for a base color, ensuring a sleek finish without added thickness.

Step 2: Nail Painting

Once your nails or gel extensions are prepped, proceed with applying nail polish. While silver is a classic choice for disco nails, any metallic shade will suffice. Essie For the Twill of it All offers a versatile option for non-gel polishes. Alternatively, opt for Aprés Nail Gel Colour in New Year Wishes, a shimmering silver gel polish ideal for establishing a flawless base for disco-inspired nails.

Step 3: Application of a Sticky Base

A crucial aspect of achieving this look is ensuring the glitter particles remain in place during application. To prevent shifting, apply a slightly thicker base coat to anchor the glitter. Following Park’s advice, apply a thin layer of the Aprés Nail Base Coat X, cure it, and then apply a thin coat of the Aprés Nail Diamond Gel to establish a tacky surface for sequin adherence.

For those not utilizing gel polish, consider applying a rubberized base coat like Essie Here to Stay Base Coat to achieve a similar effect.

Step 4: Application of Sequins

The hallmark of this design is the square-shaped sequins, readily available on platforms like Amazon. For precise application, I invested in a wax dotting pen, which I highly recommend.

To ensure precision and prevent smudging, I focused on one nail at a time. The Diamond Gel played a pivotal role in this process, offering a secure grip and ensuring the sequins remained in place during application. Essentially, I applied a layer of rubberized base coat, carefully positioned the sequins on the nail, and either cured them or allowed them to dry before moving on to the next nail.

Step 5: Application of Top Coat

Once all the sequins are in place, you can seal the design with a top coat such as Aprés Nail Non-Wipe Glossy Top Coat or Essie Stay Longer Top Coat. Depending on preference, you may need to apply two coats for a flawless finish.

Step 6: Application of Cuticle Oil

Complete the look by applying Essie On A Roll Apricot Cuticle Oil. Not only does it nourish the cuticles, but it also enhances the brilliance of the sparkly nail art.

Reflections on DIY Disco Nails

My disco nails have quickly become my favorite manicure to date, surpassing both salon and at-home nail art endeavors. The sparkle and allure they exude are simply captivating, drawing compliments from strangers wherever I go.

While the process is relatively straightforward, it does require time and patience. Admittedly, disco nails may not be a daily choice for me, but for special occasions like concerts, Halloween, or holidays, they offer an unparalleled wow-factor that I adore.

5 Disco Nail Art Ideas to Explore

1. Head to Toe Disco: Embrace the extravagance with a multi-color disco design adorning each nail, elevating your look to new heights of glamour.

2. Jelly Ombré Disco: Layer disco sequins beneath a jelly nail polish to achieve a stunning ombré gradient effect, with a subtle sparkle peeking through.

3. Naked At the Disco: For those who prefer a more understated approach, opt for a bare milky base adorned with delicate round sequins for a minimalist yet mesmerizing touch.

4. Disco Tips: Achieve the disco nail look effortlessly by painting your nails with a chunky glitter nail polish, like Essie A Cut Above, for instant dazzle.
